My experiments with applications build for the Adobe Air platform go on, and today I tried three more nice applications designed for casual needs of those who like information and need nice and practical apps for communication. Today let's look at RSS-client, Google Analytics utilities and Meebo-client.
Snackr will help you to cope with RSS of sites and blogs you follow daily and your RSS-subscriptions from different sources.
It's an RSS ticker that pulls random items from your feeds and scrolls them across your desktop. When you see a title that looks interesting, you can click on it to pop up the item in a window.
How do I get it? If you're running Windows or Mac OS X, just click the "Install Now" button over there on the right. If that doesn't work, download and install the Adobe AIR runtime, then download and run the Snackr installer manually.
What about Linux? Snackr does run on the Linux AIR alpha that Adobe just released, but it doesn't look right (animations are glitchy, transparency doesn't work). It should be functional, though. You'll need to download the runtime manually for now, since auto-install doesn't work for Linux in the current alpha, then download and run the Snackr installer.
Desktop Reporting brings the power of Google Analytics instruments right to your desktop without the necessity to log into your Google account. This is a rather useful application for the webmasters, site-owners and bloggers. It supports Linux Ubuntu and Fedora as well as Windows XP, Vista or Mac OS X.
Desktop Reporting brings Google Analytics to the desktop, with a host of features that help you understand how your web site is performing and where you can improve. From tracking your visitors, referrals and campaigns to viewing your AdWords ROI metrics, Desktop Reporting is a must-have for every Web business.
And the last in the list but not the last by its value is Meebo client Meebone which makes the multi-protocol IM web-platform a powerful and nice offline application not connected to the browser. It runs well with both Linux and Windows and gives you all the powerful multi-protocol functionality of the Meebo but without the necessity of opening your web-browser.
At meebo.com, millions of people every month keep in touch with friends on any IM network (AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk and Gmail, MySpace IM, Facebook Chat, and more!) and chat with people in Meebo Rooms. Meebo also enables live communication integrated into any website with Meebo Rooms, Meebo Community IM, and Meebo Me.
These were the 3 apps of my day on Adobe Air platform. Have a nice evening and stay lifehacked ;)
