lifehack: more PDF, less .doc

Have you ever faced a problem of compatibility of MS Office docs between different PCs or Macs or Nokia phones or Ubuntu or some other OSes and office toll-packages while co-working with MS Word or PowerPoint docs with different versions of files? I know this problem very well. In our company there is OpenOffice for Windows widely spread (thnx to god-damned security policy in the software licensing). And when you send a perfect doc or presentation to your co-worker or to the manager, there is a risk that he or she will see a mashup instead of a proper document.

The only answer in such a situation is PDF-format. It is stable, good and OS-compatible for all possible configurations and packages of software. But most of the tools of such a kind are non-free. That's why I'd like to tell you about free PDF converter which is absolutely legal and free of any licensing.

doPDF is a free PDF converter for both personal and commercial use. Using doPDF you can create PDF files by selecting the "Print" command from virtually any application. With one click you can convert your Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint documents or your emails and favorite web sites to PDF files.

Here you can download this soft for free.

Main benefits for using this free PDF converter:

* It’s free - PDF converter free for both commercial and personal use.
* 32-bit and 64-bit support
* No GhostScript or .NET - doesn’t require 3rd party programs to do PDF files such as GhostScript or runtime environments like the .NET Framework.
* Customizable resolution - you can choose any resolution from 72 to 2400 dpi.
* Predefined/custom page sizes - choose a default page size (Letter, Legal, A4, A5, A6, ...) or enter your own custom page size.
* Searchable PDFs - you can search for text within the created PDF file (and search engines will also index the text from the PDF).
* Multi-language

* Barely uses any computer resources - compared to other free PDF converters, doPDF barely uses any memory or CPU resources when doing the actual conversion to PDF.

These reasons sounds nice for a test of this software. As for me, PDF is rather convenient format for eBooks, tutorials or sharing presentations and brief descriptions as well as solid whitepapers and agreements, because it provides full integration of text and graphical content for business needs and clear informational flow. I prefer reading books and sharing presentation materials in PDF, 'cause they are fully compatible with my Windows XP at home, Ubuntu on my netbook and Symbian OS Adobe Reader in my Nokia smartphone. This is the reason why more PDF and less .doc give more opportunities. Try it and you'll like it.
