lifehack: cloud-projects and data-sharing with Nokia

The question of collaboration and co-working with sharing data via your mobile phone is an important aspect of our everyday's life. Today let's look at one of such services for those who have Nokia phone (as well as I do;) ). Not so long ago I became interested in an option of making reminders and brief description of the tasks & meetings for the online and offline work. And of course it would be nice if those reminder could be compatible with my Nokia 6680 and has SMS-reminder charge-free support. This is the way how I've found Nokia Easy Meet.

Nokia Easy Meet is a web-based mobile collaboration tool for using the mobile device and/or PC while creating, conducting and participating in meetings with your business colleagues as well as your friends and family. The service is about sharing content and wide synchronization via different phones, PCs or MACs.

Key features include:

  • Slide sharing
  • Image sharing (JPEG, PNG)
  • Conference chat
  • Remote content access (via OVI Files)
  • Participant awareness
  • Gestures
  • File download
  • Meeting minutes

Try it yourself at http://easymeet.nokia.com.

Note: Nokia Easy Meet is a research prototype and hasn't been integrated with Nokia Accounts yet. Stay tuned as we continue to improve and further integrate the service. In the meantime, we would really appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and suggestions!

Works with: most commercial browsers such as S60, Opera, Firefox, Safari.
Does not work with: IE6

If you have E71/E90/E75/N95/N96, then you'll appreciate the ability of installing a widget in your phone for better use. And the automatic SMS-sending from the platform to your mobile phone is cost-free, that's nice.

I must admit that Nokia makes real progress in the cloud-computing and data-sharing technologies. Hope, Ovi and Easy Meet are not the last projects in this direction, because mobile sharing of content and actual information seems to be an important task. Though some issues are known for these services, the ability to free up the content and ideas between groups and communities of users gives vendors and mobile operators wider abilities of creating web 2.0 technologies not only via Internet, but via WAP which is still popular in some countries. And we as users can expand our lifehack-instruments with such useful free services as Nokia Easy Meet while working or studying.
